Understanding Chakras, Kundalini and Spiritual Energy Flow

Kundalini is the Hindu word for “sacred transforming energies.” It also literally means “coiled snake”, and represents the spiritual or psychic energies that envelope us like the coils of a serpent. In this respect Kundalini is similar to Chi in the oriental philosophies. This image of the Serpent and “Serpent Power” has existed in the Hindu religious tradition for centuries. Serpent Power and Kundalini has since been embraced by many other esoteric traditions.

Kundalini is closely intertwined like the snake it represents with Chakra or Chakra points. These are the sometime 7 sometime 9 points depending on the philosophy followed, throughout the body that from the “circuit” for life and spiritual energy flow. In Kundalini philosophy it is keeping these pathways clean and flowing freely through the techniques of meditation, yoga and Reiki that leads to physical health and greater spiritual and psychic awareness.

The focal point or Chakra for the Kundalini force that we are all born with is at the base of the spine. Throughout our mortal lives the goal is to find this reservoir of “Serpent Power” tap into it, and get it to flow through the remaining Chakra points all through the body to gain and maintain health and spiritual well-being. 

Kundalini needs to be activated. Some go through their entire lives without activating their Kundalini, and miss the opportunity to reach True Enlightenment. Sometimes Kundalini is activated by a traumatic emotional or physical event such as a near death experience, or childbirth. In others it activates spontaneously. In fact there seems to be growing reports of spontaneous activation of the Kundalini, and this may be part of the global reawaking of all things spiritual. In any case when the Kundalini is activated you will feel a sudden rush of power, of energy coursing through your body. For this is indeed what is happening. Some people report a sensation of a buzzing, a tingling, and even a perception of the universal sound “OM”  -All Is One.

Upon activation of the Kundalini you will feel as if all your other senses have suddenly become heightened. Every day smells and sounds will suddenly become much clear, louder and sharper. Those who have had their Kundalini activated say they can psychically “hear” colors or “smell” sounds.  Many Hindu scholars report upon awakening the Kundalini students report vivid dream often religious in nature, and a sense of Universal Being. As activating the Kundalini is most often related to a surge of power to the heart Chakra, a feeling of overwhelming joy and love for all things is also often reported upon activation of the Kundalini. 

The Kundalini is not dangerous in and of itself. But it is an energy source. And much like electricity it can harm, or it can do great good when controlled and channeled properly. You must become adept at controlling the flow of Kundalini through the Chakra points by way of the study and practice of Chakra Meditation, Kundalini Yoga, Reiki, or other Tantric practices.

There are also a number of Charms, Amulets, Talismans, crystals and other natural spiritual items such as bezoar stones and mustika, especially those related to snakes and dragons, that have been known to be able to focus and channel Kundalini energies.
