The Occult Bookstore is the nation’s oldest & most respected esoteric and metaphysical shop. It has proudly served the world as a magickal institution since 1920, when it was first opened by D.G. Nelson offering the finest in esoteric texts and supplies.

The first storefront was at 611 N. State St, and was frequented by many of the personalities of the world's Occult History. The store moved again to 645 N. State Street a number of years later.

Later the bookstore moved to 3230 N. Clark St, and then in 1992 moved to the Flat Iron building in Wicker Park, into the space now occupied by the Earwax Cafe.

The Occult Bookstore today has located to 1164 N. Milwaukee Avenue (just south of Ashland & Division in Chicago). It still actively purveys the finest esoteric texts and supplies, as it did 87 years ago.

It now embarks upon its newest endeavour, with a new online store, to help provide customers with all their magickal needs.

They offer a great range of rare and newly published books in the Arcane Arts and a myriad of metaphysical accessories.

The subject matter ranges with items for those serious practitioners, hobbyists and curious alike. Sacred texts on subjects such as Divination, Astrology, Eastern Mysticism, Paganism, Magick, UFO’s, African Diaspora and others alike.

They also offer a vast amount of stone statues, various incense, oils, jewellery, candles, herbs, magickal pearls & crystals amongst other curio items.
